Mo Vaughn was a three-time all star first baseman for the Boston Red Sox. Along with Mariano Rivera, he is one of the last players allowed to wear number 42, the now retired uniform number of Jackie Robinson. He won the American league most valuable valuable player award in 1995.

His off field endeavors have included much charitable work and involvement in rehabilitation of rundown housing.
